Partners in Social Action for our state
Cleveland Area:
UU Congregation of Cleveland. At UUCC, our mission includes Justice in Action. We strive to actively live the Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism. We engage with the community within the congregation and outside the congregation, often in partnership with local and national organizations to make our voice and actions stronger. We are passionate about the environment, climate urgency, racial justice, social justice, voters’ rights, nurturing youth and the disenfranchised, while recognizing and embracing the intersectionality of of these issues.
East Shore UU Church. The focus of the Social Justice Council is to do our best to support all the efforts of everyone at East Shore doing social justice work including domestic violence awareness (Silent Witnesses), LGBTQ+ rights, the environment, providing food to hungry folks, collecting warm socks and mittens for needy folks, racial justice, promotingpeace (Hiroshima Day observance) and our Peace Pole.
Oberlin UU Fellowship. The SJC acts to promote social justice activities, hoping to involve most of the congregation in one way or another to support important community efforts.
Olmstead UU Congregation. The Social Action Committee is active and strongly supported by the entire congregation, by their participation in activities and with their donations. The children and youth of the church are included in Social Action, sometimes with their own projects and sometimes with support and help for whole church projects.
West Shore UU Church. Grounded in our UU principles, we strive through education, advocacy, and action to make our church a force for justice on a local, state, national and global level.
Other Northern Ohio Areas
First UU Church of Youngstown. Our justice ministries focus on these key priorities for our congregations and communities: economic justice; environmental justice; immigrant justice; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer justice; racial justice; reproductive justice; and voting rights. We have a proud history of founding, organizing, incubating, nurturing, launching many social justice and social service initiatives in the Valley, sometimes alone, sometimes with partner organizations.
First Unitarian of Toledo. Being a Green Sanctuary is one of the ways we work toward a vision of healthier, more sustainable future. As a recognized Green Sanctuary, we live with a deep awareness of our climate crisis and the deep environmental injustices of our time. We commit to four practices, grounded in Unitarian Universalist principles: environmental justice; worship and celebration; religious education; and sustainable living. We are committed to working with and through the MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio.
UU Church in Akron Ohio. Our Social Justice Council consists of representatives from each justice committee. The Council works together to support each other and co-create opportunities for growth in our justice work. We invite you to explore our various social justice ministries and reach out to our leaders for more information on what we do and how you might become involved.
Southwest UU Church, North Royalton. We join with over 40 other religious groups in Greater Cleveland Congregations to work together on justice issues in Cleveland.
UU Church of Kent. The purpose of the Social Justice Ministries of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent is to engage the members and friends of our congregation in important social justice issues of our time.
UU Fellowship of Wayne County. Here in Wayne County, the Fellowship has fought poverty, hunger and injustice by supporting organizations and activities such as People to People Ministries, and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
UU Congregation of Greater Canton. The UUCGC is participating in two programs focused on conservation and recycling with two programs.
Columbus Area
All Souls UU, Bellville. Justice begins with awareness and action. Our newsletter provides updates on social justice work, key issues, and ways to get involved. Together, we strive to make a difference.
First UU Church Columbus. Our spiritual lives are inseparable from the struggle for equal access to food, clean air and water, housing, education, employment, health care, and legal defense as well as respect for the rights of women, people of color, immigrants, religious minorities and lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people.
South Central Ohio Area
UU Fellowship of Athens. Our justice efforts are grounded in our congregationally-driven social justice statements and our call to break down divisions, heal isolation, and honor the interconnectedness of all life and all justice issues.
First UU Society Marietta. In pursuit of achieving a Green Sanctuary status, the Committee will strive to serve as leader in accomplishing those tasks required to receive certification as a Green Sanctuary;
Cincinnati Area
First UU of Cincinnati. As Unitarian Universalists, we put our faith into action, from our grassroots community service and community organizing, to the Unitarian Universalist Association’s interfaith state, national, and corporate advocacy; in protest marches, prayer vigils, and press conferences; in homeless shelters and in prisons.
Harmony UU Church. Driven by our commitment to justice, the Harmony UU community unites to heal divisions, embrace diversity, and celebrate the interconnectedness of all life. Our reach extends beyond ourselves. We stand in solidarity with those facing injustice, partnering with individuals and groups at every level – local, state, national, and even international. In doing so, we not only model our values but also work toward a more just world for all.
Heritage UU Church. Love is the spirit of our church and it is that love that guides us to seek justice for all. In that spirit the Heritage Social Justice Collaborative brings together individuals who have passion around various areas of social justice.
St. John’s UU Church. St John’s participates in Social Justice through a number of channels.
Hopedale UU Community. In addition to service projects, we work to promote the values of the Green Sanctuary and the Welcoming Congregation.
Dayton Area
Miami Valley UU Fellowship. Our Social Justice Committee offers many different ways for you to “be the change” you’d like to see in the world: immigration action, improving conditions in west Dayton, literacy & tutoring projects, and the list goes on.
